I spent much if the day reading my kindle as I waited for my flight from Heathrow to Sofia, then sat on the plane while it flew across Europe. The story I was reading was a fantasy about young people learning how to fly on dragons in order to defend their country, there were a series of tests they had to pass. I felt my journey was a bit like that being tested, finding my way into the airport terminal, tackling the self check in machines, trying to decipher boarding announcements over the annoy etc.. To make logistics easier on arriving at Sofia Airport I had booked a car to take me direct to a hotel in Dragoman. A relatively inexpensive option that saved getting into Sofia and then trying to find where the buses went from. After a few WhatsApp messages the driver found me. He had some English and we talked a little of hiking up Vitosha, the mountain that rises up immediately to the south of Sofia.
I arrived at the Dragoman Hotel around 8:30 pm, and went straight to the restaurant before it closed.
Tomorrow I plan to walk to Serbia.
